Calling Northern artists

Most of us would be easily be able list the artists, bands, singers or celebrities that hail originally from our home towns.

Even if their music is not your cup of tea personally, or even if they now have decamped to the capital or far flung cities overseas, you still consider them a local boy / girl / band. You may have a claim to fame to one; “my brother went to school with drummer”, “the lead singer used to live on our road”, “I saw them at the local nightclub before they made it big!”

These cities can lay claim to:

  • Manchester – Oasis, Take That, The Smiths, Stone Roses, New Order and Happy Mondays
  • Liverpool – The Beatles, Cilla Black, The La’s, Echo & the Bunnymen, Atomic Kitten, The Zutons, The Lighting Seeds and Frankie Goes to Hollywood
  • Sheffield – Artic Monkeys, Pulp, The Human League, Def Leppard, Heaven 17 and Babybird
  • Leeds – Kaiser Chiefs, Soft Cell, The Sisters of Mercy, Scritti Politti and Black Lace

Have we missed off your favourite? Do let us know, we’d be pleased to update the list!

At Mike Constantia Artiste Management we have acts and artists from all corners of the United Kingdom working with our clients nationwide.

However as a Northern based business, we are keen to support the local music scene more and are calling for solos, duos, trios, quartets and bands to get in contact and register with us.*

It’s really easy to do, simply go the Artiste Registration section on our website and complete as much information as you can, including details on your Act and upload any images and MP3 music files.

If you want to discuss further, contact us on 01925 810 979 or email

* If you are out of the area, or not sure what ‘Northern’ covers, then just upload your details anyway – we’d be delighted to hear from you
