Katy (Cabaret / Classical Crossover)

  • Biography

Katy started singing at the very young age of seven. Her love of the profession comes from joining Stagecoach and since then Katy has taken weekly lessons in Classical singing, piano, acting and all aspects of dance. As a young child Katy also took part in major singing competitions including the final of ‘Young singer of the year’ succeeding in a top five spot. She was also chosen to be part of the Children’s chorus in the National UK Touring production of Joseph and his amazing technicolour dreamboat.

At the age of sixteen Katy gained a place at the prestigious Italia Conti Academy studying their world renowned musical theatre course in London. Whilst studying here she also performed in many of their shows in the New Wimbledon Theatre, London alongside fellow pop star Pixie Lott. During this time Katy attended a Mamma Mia Masterclass with the professional company at the Prince of Wales Theatre and was chosen to appear as the leading role of Sophie for the summer. Katy learnt so many skills at the Italia Conti and on the professional stage during her time there and gained a Italia Conti Diploma in musical theatre.

After studying Katy went to Cyprus and began her singing career singing musical theatre and pop cabaret sets in 5* hotels in Paphos and Coral Bay.Also Katy did a Kylie Minogue tribute act and Gwen Stefani out there. During her time in Cyprus she was spotted by Andrew Lloyd Webber’s head sound technician who invited her to come and sing in front of Andrew Lloyd Webber in his home. Her next venture was a UK Tour of ‘Some Enchanted Evening’  the greatest songs from Rodgers and Hammerstein, where she was lead vocalist. Back to the tribute roots Katy joined ‘Bjorn to be ABBA’ singing the part of Agnetha and is still appearing in many ABBA tribute acts across the UK and also in Mallorca. Katy was then employed by Kayad Productions as lead vocalist in their production shows of ‘Las Vegas Spectacular’ and ‘A century of music’

Katy then took a new approach to her career and was offered a fantastic contract on-board Costa Cruises as their production singer. Here she performed on-board for six months singing and dancing in their production shows in many different languages and many different genres of music. After a couple of contracts here she went to Israel and performed in a international cabaret act called ‘Five stars’. When this contract was completed Katy then went back to the cruise ships with MSC and Ibero completing two more years at sea as a production singer. Onboard ibero she had comments from passengers and crew of how similar she was to Katy Perry and this sewed the seed for her to start her own tribute up as Katy Perry this has then followed onto a successful Taylor Swift tribute.
