Carolynn May

  • Biography

Carolynn May is an established and professional Cabaret Artiste. She has taken dance and drama classes from the age of 21/2 years old, until adulthood when she qualified as a dance teacher with the UKA (United Kingdom Alliance for Professional Teachers of Dance) and the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) and went on to take her teaching qualifications in Tap, Ballet, Musical Theatre and Drama. Carolynn has taught dance since the age of 18 years and opened her own theatre school in Manchester in 1998 and has been teaching adults and children for the past 15 years. Stagecraft Dance & Theatre School is still a successful business running from its own purpose built studios in Manchester.

After appearing in many variety and dance shows at theatres mainly in the North West, Carolynn decided to train her voice with ‘Tony Wayne’ a well-known and respected vocal coach from Yorkshire. She then started her own solo career as an entertainer and has since been performing at various clubs, hotels, theatres and holiday centres in North Wales, Yorkshire and some corporate work with ‘Supreme Dream’ a vocal harmony group, with a choreographed & costumed Soul & Motown show, of which she is Lead singer. This has taken them further afield to Birmingham, Wales, Cumbria & Scotland and a small amount of work in Spain.

Carolynn is a confident performer and interacts with the audience during her shows. A good selection of songâ??s are performed during one of Carolynn’s shows. Songs included are from the 1930’s through to present day chart hits and include a good selection of songs from musicals. Carolynn has a powerful yet controlled voice with a fantastic range, versatile enough to cope with songs from the softest love songs, hardest Rock, pop Chart hits and the most challenging musical theatre ballads. Hopefully the variety of different material will suit most audiences.
