AUSTIN KNIGHT was never your typical class clown. Merely entertaining his peers with dead-on impressions of teachers wasn’t enough for him, so he quickly branched out. Whilst still a student, Knight travelled with an act called the “Brooklyn Clowns,” where the group worked on new and impressive versions of the old pie-in-the-face routine. Then, at just 16, he took his shot at stand-up at a local pub. The reverberations of that bomb can still be heard, some say.”
Towards the late eighties, he developed a stand-up act featuring topical news items of the day, a wry glance at life’s quirks and idiosyncrasies from an ‘off-the-wall’ viewpoint. He currently writes a humorous weekly newspaper column ‘Life With Austin’ which comments on the weeks events and is syndicated in newspapers published in the northwest of England. He has also written copious amounts of comedy scripts, both for TV & Radio, His writing career commenced by compiling gags for Tommy Cooper, and sketches for Les Dawson, when variety was still popular. Austin has appeared as an actor/presenter in various TV productions which include Coronation St, Sandbaggers, Takeover TV, Taggart, Fallen Hero, Cribb the Detective, and THE NEW COMEDIANS the list goes on and on. In 2006 he played ‘The Funniest Man on Earth’ in the feature film ‘ZEMANOVALOAD’ and performed in ‘The Carlsberg Comedy Festival’ in Koh Samui, Thailand in 2009.
Austin was on board comedian on the Carnival Breeze in 2012. In 2013, Austin joined the Punchliner Comedy Club from April until October on board theCarnival Legend cruising the Baltics and the Carnival Sunshine cruising the Mediterranean.
In 2014 Austin was appearing in the Lyric Theatre on board Royal Caribbean ‘Independence of the Seas’ and ‘Adventure of the Seas’. In September he worked on the biggest cruise liner in the world, ‘Oasis of the Seas’ in the ‘Comedy Live!’ club.
In January 2015, Austin entertained passengers on Fred Olsen Cruise Lines’ ‘Balmoral’ on it’s Grand Far East Voyage. From April onwards, Austin will be on board Caribbean Princess until October.
Recent gigs also included the ‘Dubai 7’s Rugby Dinner’ in Dubai & Qatar. Austin also specialises in Golf Presentation Days (See Reviews for opinions from corporate clients for better particulars).
Today, Austin concentrates full time as an after-dinner speaker and is able to work on all comedy levels, depending on what the audience requires.
